The Story of the Cracked Pot (Integrity as Purpose)
In a village in the East, a water carrier carried two large pots every day on a pole across his shoulders. One pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water to the master’s house. The other pot had a small crack. By the time the carrier reached the house, half of the water had leaked out.
This went on for two years. The perfect pot was proud of its performance, while the cracked pot felt ashamed. One day, it said: “I am ashamed of my flaw. Because of my crack, you work so hard and only deliver half the water.”
The carrier smiled and said: “Have you noticed that flowers grow only on your side of the path? On the other side, there is only dry ground. I always knew about your crack. That’s why I planted seeds on your side, and every day you watered them. Without your flaw, that beauty would not exist.”
The essence: Integrity as the foundation of collaboration
In recruitment and business, integrity is not about pretending to be perfect. It is about the courage to be honest about who we are, what we know, and where our flaws are.
A candidate with integrity (the pot): They do not fake their CV. They say: “This is who I am, these are my past mistakes, and this is what I learned.”
A leader with vision (the carrier): A true leader does not look only for perfect candidates. They recognize authenticity and know how to turn someone’s uniqueness into a strength.
When honesty meets understanding, real value is created.
False perfection is fragile. Truth, supported by good leadership, creates something lasting.
